Very nice!!!

Are you doing the clutch job yourself?

Do you have a stock T5?

Thanks...

Yep.. Just a T5.. I'm not sure if I'll do the work or not.. (never done a clutch before) If it warms up a bit (above freezing) , I guess I will.

I installed a King Cobra Clutch a few months back. I like it. Soft pedal feel. I have stock heads and cam. You might need something a little better.

I'll tell you what I think. I say if your upping the boost and spraying the car Spec stage 2 or 3. But....the stock T5 is gonna get torn to shreds behind that kind of power and a killer clutch set-up. Granted your car has 47,000 miles so the T5 should last quite a while for ya....granny shifting and taking care of it.

I've had it happen to me and heard it happen to other members. We go out and buy some badass clutch set-up and in a few months sometimes weeks depending on your driving style we lose our transmissions. It was 3 days for me and my motor is friggen stock. I can laugh about it now.

Eventually your gonna need to upgrade the transmission with your horsepower goals. The transmissions in these cars are not the best. Motors and rear's are great though.

I say you find the cheapest shop to install a clutch and throw a King cobra clutch or something a little bit better than the stocker. Then save up for a Tremec TKO500 26 spline, spec stage 3, alum. flywheel the works and be done with the transmission. Just my 2 cents.

Do you mind an on/off clutch like a Spec Stg 2?

I like the centerforce dual friction, My 1999 cobra make 500 to the tires and the clutch holds up great.

I have always liked the feel of the King Cobra but if you want more grip and still want a light pedal then I would go with a Zoom Kevlar.

Nice car BTW!

I think Centerforce Dual Friction would be a great choice. Soft pedal (softer than a King Cobra) but it does "hit" the transmission harder but I don't think it is as hard as the Spec 2's and 3's. Not to on/offish either.

That is my recommendation if your going with boost and nitrous. Get a good tune...

Good Luck!

Centerforce dual friction.

Expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

Very soft pedal and grabs like a champ.

With your mods and plans, a stocker will not quite do the job, but the slipping clutch is probally the only thing protecting the T5. Even when it wasn't "slipping" it actuall is some. Get a real hard hitting clutch and you'll know what I mean. My stock T5 lasted over 145K miles, me having it for 55K of that and I beat the crap out of it, powershifing, track almost every weekend, you name it. No issues, made a little noise but nothing really. Put a Spec III in there, less than a month and a half later, shaved the teeth right off the intput and counter shafts gears.

I have and like the King Cobra. Its still low mileage and holding up to the turbo I added almost 2 years ago. I don't put alot of mileage on my car but that clutch is still holding up after about 8-10dyno pulls and 6 times down a track at 126mph with street tires.

i have a king cobra on my T5 at this time holding 473rwhp with no slipping problems. I am upgrading to a TKO 600 in a couple of weeks from now. I thinking of getting the Spec 3 clutch or a Centerforce dual friction, don't know yet.

My engine builder put a Centerforce D/F pressure plate with a Spec III disc, and a Fidanza Alum. flywheel behind my 396 motor. Excellent pedal feel, with great grabbing characteristics(slight chatter). My understanding Centerforce now offers seperate components so you do not have to buy a kit. If I am not mistaking Centerforce also offers a 6 puck disc. Correct me if I am wrong. Yelladawg

man i spend two hours already checking out some old threads on Spec and CF clutches. I will be above 500rwhp with my next mods, the route i am going with so far is Spec 3, because i don't drive my car everyday and it's going to see highway most of the time. Lets see if i can stand the chattering for the first hundred miles before it breaks in.
