clutch safety switch

I have a 1988 mustang gt 5.0. When I have the css plunger depressed as if the clutch pedal were at the floor the engine cranks over but there is no spark. When the plun ger is out as if the clutch pedal were not depressed and i arch the starter solenoid I have spark. Right now the switch is not on the pedal. Does it have to be on the pedal for spark or is the switch bad? Can anyone help?
thanks

The only difference would be the arcing (if across the big lugs) helping a connection on the solenoid itself, or possibly an issue in the start signal going to the TFI module.

See the "Start signal in" terminal in this diagram

Good luck.

If the ignition was modified during your conversion, you'll have to go over your wiring. I could only guess what ignition configuration you use now or how it was wired up.

Good luck and bump for you.
