Clutch Suggestions (I think)

I've got a 99 with about 115k miles on it and I think the clutch is starting to go out. In every gear in RPMs between 1k and 2k the car seems to stutter a bunch (I'm assuming the clutch slipping) while I accelerate. I tried to start from a stand-still in 4th gear to see if the car would stall out and although it tried, it did not completely stall out.

So if I'm correct in my assumption that the clutch is going out (let me know if its another possibility), what are y'alls suggestions for a new clutch?

Symptoms of a clutch going out would be more like you being in 4th gear and hitting the throttle and seeing the engine RPM climb but the vehicle speed barely change.

Sounds like you need to check your ignition system, fuel pressure, the throttle position sensor and/or the MAF.

Again, the signs of a bad clutch are the engine speed increasing but the vehicle speed not.

If the car is misfiring (as it sounds like it is) between 1-2K RPM then it makes sense that the car "does not accelerate like its supposed to ... until the RPMs get around 2k or so."

well you think you need a new clutch... All I can tell is what I have learned from personal experience. I bought a spec stage 2 clutch and it is a very nice setup for a nice price too. But don't use their throwout bearing that comes with the kit. It didn't even last 1000 km and it is squealing already.

As far as your problem goes if you are having clutch issues it would be at lower rpms but you should hear the engine rev up but you not go anywhere. If it is a stumble I would be looking elsewhere.

Can you elaborate? Video perhaps..

I also agree on checking your fuel pressure.

Have you done any maintenance? fuel filter/plugs etc?

I don't have a video. The best I can describe it is like when you're first learning how to drive a standard and you're not very good with the clutch yet and the car bounces like crazy. Its like a very mild version of that feeling (I've driven a standard for 7 years so its not bad clutch usage on my part).

As far as maintenance, I did a whole bunch of stuff quite recently because I was having idling problems: replaced spark plugs, cleaned MAF, replaced fuel filter, checked vacuum lines, cleaned EGR valve, etc...can't really remember all the crap I did trying to solve my problem...I actually forgot what actually ended up solving my idling problem haha. Anyway, I don't know what else to look at as I looked over everything it feels like a few months ago trying to figure out my idling problems.
