Anybody got any good suggestions on clutches? My Spec stage 3 just crapped it's pants. Supposedly good for 700hp  . I want to get something that will last more than 4 months. I just put this thing in in May. Not too happy that's for sure. I thought maybe it was tranny until I pulled the inspection/clutch cable cover and there were clutch pieces inside. Any suggestions? Is Macleod any good? Or ACT? I'm thinking Centerforce DFX. I had a Centerforce in it last year and had zero problems with it. I took it out when I finished my buildup and there were no wear marks at all and that was after a full drag season. I put the Spec Stage 3 in because I didn't want to have to worry about a clutch for a year or two and I actually thought it would take the torque of burnouts with the KB. Guess not.

I have a Mcleod and it is working good so far. I have probably put almost 10,000 km's on it mostly before my build up but i bought it specifically for the build. I researched it alot at the time and from what i remember i liked what people had to say about mcleod. I can say one thing is it is pretty beefy in my opinon and i have had it on and off the car about five times( i don't know what that has to do with anything). there my $.02.

Chech with Spec about it. I thnk their clutches have a 120 day warranty.

If you call and explain that this is on a street car you may get a new clutch. I guess the Stage 3's are hit or miss. I hope mine lasts longer then that.

MY GOD!!! What is going on with spec just in the last week i've heard of two different stage 3 clutchs coming apart.
I used ALOT of spec clutches and have never had any come apart.
We put one in a solo1 03' cobra w/ KB upgrade-450rwhp and this guy beats the living **** out of it and its still ok, this was about 3 years ago, and like i said he drives it like its stolen.

I've also used the twin disc's and so far so good, AWSOME pedal effort:nice:

I don't know either. It is funny because almost all the aftermarket clutches come from Valeo anyway. They are just made to the respective brand names specs.

Valeo clutches are what are in 99% of all stock cars out there.

I actually liked my Spec, it held real well and gripped real hard when you popped the clutch. I'm just a little gun shy now. I have to pull one of the headers to get the tranny out, that's my biggest piss off. It is going to be a real pain in the ass and I don't have the patience with the car right now. It'll probably take me at least 6-7 hours minimum just to change a stupid clutch that should never have broke in the first place.
