Ok well we been havin a prob with my bros clutch. It wont work we aujusted it both ways.If u push in the clutch in put it in gear it will take off.So here is the ?.what could it be.We took it apart and only thing seen that wasnt so good was the press plate bolts was lose.Would that make the clutch not work?Do we need a new cable? Thanks

So when you push the clutch in and put the car in gear, without letting the clutch out, the car moves? Does it grind going into gear? You probably have to have the clutch buried into the floor to even get it in gear.

It sounds like you have too much freeplay. If you have the stock quadrant/pawl, you can try lifting up on the clutch pedal to adjust the freeplay. If not, manually adjust it via the cable, FWA or whatever you have.

It sounds like you have a lot of freeplay though - get rid of that and see how it does.

good luck.

Yup.It starts in gear. But you still have to push the clutch in.Also yes it grinds real bad and we dont wanna push it throw.I have tryed slamin it to the floor. It's a quadrant.Witch way should i aujust it?And should i try one click at a time?

When you pull up on the stock quadrant, let it click as much as it wants - you want little or no freeplay anyhow.

when one installs a new clutch, the quadrant adjustment needs to be reset anyways.
Good luck.

i had the same problem with my old t5. bought a oem cable and firewall adjuster and new aftermarket quadrant to try to fix the problem and adjusted every bit of free play out of the cable and it still didnt help. something was busted and i couldnt put my car in a shop for days to have them figure it out so i just bought a new tranny, clutch, and flywheel. hopefully you wont have to do that though

Tonight we are puting it back togother.Hopin the press plate bolts being lose was the prob. Then we are going to try aujusting the clutch one last time.Do these trannys leak fluid easy.Like if we pull the drivershaft out of the tail shaft should it leak? And how many of you guys use lock tight on the press plate bolts?Well thanks again

i've never put locktite on those bolts. Fluid will leak out if the driveshaft is pulled, and the car leans towards the rear at all.

IMO, you pulled the trans/clutch for nothing, although you did find loose pp bolts, which is good you found those.

Fork out the dough for the aluminum quadrant/firewall adjuster and tighten that adjustment, as others suggested. This will take care of you problem

I don't use loctite on the pressure plate bolts...

Yeah tranny fluid will come out of the tail shaft when you remove the driveshaft. More will come out the steeper the car is at an angle.

Come on now.U act like pullin that lil tranny is alot of work a hour.So maybe the IMO is on u if u think it is alot of work :nice: .Yeah glad we found the lose bolts.I will be makin sure to put them in this time.I m new to ford so i didnt know if there tranny leaked out the tail like other's.Well thanks again we are buying a new cable and see how that goes.
