hey everybody
listen...i dont know if its just my car or all mustangs.....but my clutch is really really hard to push and it is long and catches all the way at the top....as soon as i put my foot on the clutch and push a little its already disengaging....
first i want to know if they are all like that...
second...could i make my clutch shorter...by...say...making the clutch cable shorter...i kinda already know this but is there a way to make it easier to push...
also...how much would it be to change the system to a hydraulic one..
and finally...how much is it to replace a clutch plate...cuz i think mine is worn...and could i do it myself...how much would it be if i did it myself and if i would get a mechanic to do it.
thanks

You might want to try posting this one over in the V6 Technical Discussion section.

Has your clutch always been like this or just recently? Some clutches are normally a bit difficult to push but usually only the high performance types are like that or the heavy duty clutches on large trucks.

How many miles does your car have? If your clutch components are worn then a shop can charge anywhere in the lines from $200 - $400 for a new clutch. If you don't have any prior experience then I wouldn't reccomend taking the task on yourself.Unless you have help from an experienced DIY'er.Clutch replacement requires the removal of the transmission besides any other object interfering with removal (starter, exhaust pipes, driveshaft, etc)
