Anyone had a run with one of these? I want to know if the 205hp mini wannabe vette can beat a v6 Stang and how it'd fair against a GT. A friend of mine might get one...wanna know how bad I can spank him....S/C or not.

well the cobalt ss is 14.6 1/4 mile and the v-6 mustang is 15.3 - these are car and driver numbers. I would say the Cobalt would win, but it depends how your racing. On the street, from a stop, the v-6 would probably win. in the 1/4 or racing from a roll, the Cobalt would win. This is only based off of C&D numbers, however.

You should check out cobaltssforums.com,last I read about those cars they were having trouble breaking into the 14's due to traction. They are slower than a srt-4 so a 05 stang should have no problem burning one. A v6 would probably be a good race for one,on a roll race the cobalt should be faster than a v6 stang though.

your talking about the supercharged one running into the 14's right? Because over here there are some SS cobalts with just the exterior stuff and no supercharger..
nah, a real Cobalt SS from Chevrolet will have a supercharger...

Unless your friend's a diehard Chevy fan, tell him to try the SRT-4 too. Great bang for the buck, tons of aftermarket and Mopar support already.

Agreed, the SRT-4 is one of the best bang for the buck cars in that price range even though they look horrible imo and are fwd. They can be made fast with very little money.

It's a Neon. Well too bad they stopped making them.

I'm not too worried about taking it in my GT but I don't think even with a S/C the Cobalt could much rival a GT anyway. Yeah they do make an N/A version but thats for people that can't afford the real thing. Sorta like if they made an 07 Shelby with a 4.6 and no engine mods.

All the SRT-4 Neon guys around here say they can take me even if they were stock. Mostly cause the altitude and what not. Even if it could...it's a Neon. :rlaugh:

Stock SRT-4s (we all know they are really neons, lol) will not take a GT. As I said before though, they can be made fast w/ very little money. I know a good deal of guys on a regional forum I belong to that have 400+hp SRT-4s and they have spent very little. Even though a lot of the owners have ****ty attitudes do not underestimate them.

Anyways, a Cobalt or SRT-4 that is stock or only lightly moddified will not take a stock GT.

A lightly modded srt will take a stock GT traction permiting. And definatly from a roll. I know I've played with both cars. I put a couple parts on my brothers car(05 SRT-4) and his car is right at my rear bumper from 40 to 100,I'm pretty sure his car would take a bone stock 05 GT.I know a guy that had a lightly modded SRT that ran high 12's at 111 mph. Turbo cars are just way to easy to up the power.
