I just upgraded my 03 GT with the front Cobra Brake Kit. I also installed Hawk pads and now when I'm driving I hear a clicking noise. I have checked everything and I can't find anything wrong. If I spin the rotor I don't hear the click does anyone have any ideas that might help me solve this problem?

Hell yea I use the search feature!

I also just completed a Cobra upgrade on my 98 GT. I Turned a set of Powerslot rotors about .0010 on average and all are still within Ford spec. I Used 99 Cobra calipers with 40,000 miles on them, the same Hawk pads that were in them when I bought the calipers, I kept my original rear calipers and pads with the turned Cobra sized rear rotors. Everything was dissasembled for clean-up and painting...relubricated where needed, and re-installed. I bought my parts from a friend who upgraded also, so I know the history on the parts and he had no issues when he took them off his car. Now I have this clicking/chirping noise when I am not applying the brake. It is constant with the rotation of the wheels. When I apply the slightest pedal pressure, the sound stops. All pads have plenty of material on them. Any more ideas on what this could be?

Well, I haven't since I finished the install. At the time I put everything together there was no interference, not even close. My next step, if the brake experts don't have experience with this, is to jack it up and start to isolate the problem. Front or Back, Left or Right, etc.

Found my problem, Maybe this will help someone

I isolated the noise easily enough. It was the front. I jacked it up, and first thing I noticed was that the wheel felt harder to turn than it should be. I know brakes drag a little but this seemed excessive. As I turned the wheel as fast as I could, I could begin to hear the chirping noise I could hear when driving the car. Mostly left front, some right front. In my effort to make these brakes look brand spankin new, I had sandblasted and painted the caliper brackets. What I did not do for re-assembly was put a thin film of grease on the notch that the brake pad backing plate moves back and forth in when you apply the brake. Long story short is that the pads were binding just enough, and not releasing due to dryness that the noise was created. As soon as I drove it, the noise was gone, and the braking was greatly improved, probably due to less heat buildup I'm thinking. Now I am realizing the hugh dif in braking between GT vs Cobra set-ups. Before all of this, I was thinking WTF is all the hype about because it wasn't braking much better than before I changed over to the Cobra parts.
