Car:1999 Cobra

Mods: vortech supercharged T56 and yadda ya

Background: Car was bought earlier this year with light rear quarter damage very cheap. The car itself has 51000 miles on it, but ive done my research on the forums and located the previous owner who told me that at 47k he had a new engine installed.

PROBLEM: Ok heres where it gets kinda ugly, the previous techs who installed the engine must not have tourqued down the secondary tensionor on the drivers side as its bolts have came out , allowing the tensionor itself to come off and inturn break the secondary timing chain. No other damage is visible from just the valve cover being removed.

Questions:
1) OK I really need to know if this is an interference engine will the valves come in contact with the piston?

2) Does anyone have any information on the timing of these engines.

3) Are the specialty tools described in the haynes manaul a nessacity?

4) What tips do you guys have and what do you reccomend that I change as all was refurbished 4000 miles ago.

Any help would really be great as I am a GM Technician, but we dont have any Modular motors to speak of and once it gets past my 2 valve im kinda lost.

I know for a fact the 4v motor is indeed an interference engine.... as far as the rest of your questions I can't help ya. Maybe someone else here can answer this.

I have an 03 manual. I will see if it has any of the info But I don't know if it would be the same as 99.
