my mechanic says he thinks my intake and t/b are off a cobra.

he says the bolt holes on the stock ones form a square, while the bolt holes on the cobra versions form a rectangle.

is he right? if so, then i have a cobra upper intake for sale :nice:

the wierd thing is that the plate on the intake doesn't say cobra on it, it looks stock.

the Cobra and GT manifolds are totally different...and it does say Cobra on it...and the Cobra has the same TB as the GT if i remember correctly....check out the FAQ at the top of the page...there is a whole list of stuff to tell Cobras from GTs....

Seems like every mechanic i hear of or talk to about cars doesnt know nearly as much about Mustangs as they think they do.

Just from looking at the two quickly, the GT intake has ribs on the elbow section and the Cobra intake has a bolt going through the Cobra nameplate.

Not all Cobra intakes have the "Cobra" name plate on them. It could say "Ford Motorsport" on the name plate like the one shown in the '03 FRPP catalog on page 27. Also, could be an Explorer intake which is very similar to the Cobra intake as well. Just being optimistic for ya. If your intake has "HO 5.0" on the nameplate then it is not a Cobra intake.

take 2 mins and unblot the upper, if its a Cobra the ports on the lower that connects to the upper will be staggerd, if its a stock Intake the ports will all be in one line. Also are you running the stock strut tower brace? If so then its a stock intake b/c a cobra intake or any other aftermarket Intake is to big to still use the stock STB.

Along the lines of what was said...Heres a stock to an Explorer...you can see the straight versus staggered ports...All GT40/Cobra lowers are staggered..
