Cobra R's and a five lug conversion won't fit?????

I want to put Cobra R's on my 91 GT but my friend (whom I got the car from) says that I can't use the center caps because he did the 5 lug swap using Mark VII rotors and ranger axles. Anyone have any ideas what this is about?

Thanks.

If you buy real Ford Cobra R's with 24mm backspacing they do fit on Lincoln rotors. I know from experience. 36mm backspace wheels have fitment issues with Lincoln rotors, but the real Ford M-179's are hard to find anymore. The only problem is these wheels make the stock front rotor look tiny. Oh well.
