What is the quarter mile times looking like on the newer cobras. Friend of a Friend has a 2004 cobra and running his mouth off about how fast he is and can smoke all these cars. NOW dont get me wrong, I know its a Bad ass car, if I could afford the insurance Id have one sittin in my driveway..but no way. Now im just wondering you guys think two equal drivers one in a z06 vs the cobra...pretty much just stock...who you guys think will win. Hes saying he can smoke the z06...now i question that...but not exactly sure. Or what about this combo...a 88gt with a Dss 306 long rod, stage 2 Trickflow heads, N 41 cam, Systemax intake, and 150 shot, with a lil bit of suspension work.. keep in mind equal drivers...who has the upper hand in your opinoin?? He says I have no chance...yada yada...I just walked away for one...car isnt done yet....and two Im not going to argue and look like an ass if i get smoked..but i think i have more then good chance to smoke him...??

Depends on alot of factors but all being the same his car stock for stock against the zo6 should be close. Hard to say as driver error can be to blame.
As for the 88gt here is some numbers for you that might surprise you and may cause a bunch of people to say bull%$# but they are true. My buddy has an 03 cobra with some stuff done and he put 442rear wheel down. I have an 88gt with similar setup as you stated and we ran 12.7 him and 12.9 me. Thats with my stock heads and cam. I can say his car will spank mine around town all day long but at the track is more even. Run him and see what happens. I like to keep my mouth shut but it puts a smile on my face when the car runs good and poeple start aksing questions. By the way I took it to the track the other day with the heads and cam and ran 13.1 at 112.8mph with street tires. Thats the same trap speed the 03 cobra runs with 442 rear wheel. Not too bad I suppose.

The 88 GT with h/c/i and 150 shot would trash the cobra by a lot. Even with just all motor you should run pretty even with him.

His cobra stock should be in the mid 12's or so, the 88 GT would be EASY EASY 11's with that 150 shot.

yea we started her up today...***** man...mean ass cam. couldnt get on her a whole lot though...no miles on the motor. BUT to my dismay...finding coolant in the oil....so ripping her apart..and checking the gasekts...MOTHER *****er this car has been such a hassle.... hopefully ready for tomorrow...

very close

I have a stock 2003 SVT and one of the very few
street races races was with a new corvette.
we were switching door handles until third gear
and I pulled away slowly until he gave up. both vehicles stock.
Race was from a stoplight once we got rolling
he jumped first but I was ready.
