I am looking to upgrade my 2000 gt brakes and am considering cobra or cobra r package. how much better are the Brembo r than the late model restoration cobra kit?

The Cobra R brakes are 4 piston Brembo calipers vs the Cobra PBR 2 piston calipers. They are better, but only if you are really taking the brakes to the limit. For daily driving or spirited occasional track duty...the Cobra PRB calipers are fine. They use the same 13" rotors. If you do a LOT of autox, then the Cobra R calipers might be worth the extra few hundred....but, if it was me....I would just stick with the Cobra PBR calipers.

I had the same question you did a few months ago. From all the research I did, led me to the conclusion that Vertigasen had posted above. For a DD car, regular Cobra brakes are quite good. Atleast that's what I'm told. My Cobra brakes are sitting in my room till I can install them in April. I purchased my 03 Cobra brakes from Late Model Restoration, and the price was really good and it consisted of high quality components.

Good luck!

Just like these guys have said don't bother with the cobra R kit. The Cobra pbr brakes are more then fine. You will be amazed at out well the car will stop when you slam on the peddal.
