Ugh, Ima bout ta give up :(

My car's been having an intermittent hesitation/buck. It comes and it goes. I'm actually just now getting on the ball about fixing it (been setting in garage since Mar. or so, I bought it in Oct.)

Ran codes and got this-
543
Continuous memory codes
176
542
543

I'm doin' a buncha lil knick knack stuff now, even if it may not need it this moment (new plugs/wires/cap/rotor/ACT/ECT)

176- I would write this code off to my long tubes, but last fall I pulled a 176 AND a 177. So that left bank has been throwing codes for awhile, never had one for the other side. I plan on new O2's.

I am thinking about changing the fuel pump. I already have a new 255 that I'd picked up for my now postponed blower project. Might as well put it to use, even if I pulled no codes that necessarily suggest a bad pump.

The 542/543 was didn't concern me much (I'd always heard they were common, "ghost codes") until I read this- http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=477626&highlight=542

I'm a simple cave man, that walkthrough fascinates and frightens this simple mind. Christ, it's gonna take me a couple hours to change plugs and wires.

Any thoughts? I know I didn't ask any specific questions, but I'd love to hear any opinions you may have.

Thanks,

J

176 - Seeing as you are not getting a code for the right side as well, your left side O2 may be bad.

Check the plugs on both sides of the motor (sucks, but free). If the left side plugs are white, but the right side is brown, then sounds like a bad left side O2 sensor.

Also, test the resistance for both o2 sensors, as outlined in Rockin_rick's thread.

Report back and let us know what happens.
