Check Engine light came on yesterday. Went to Autozone and that was the code they pulled. Something to do with the catalytic converter being below threshold. The same thing happened 6-8 months ago and when I hit a pothole one day, the went off. Does the cat need to be replaced or is this really no big deal? BTW, I have a BBK high-flo H-pipe w/cats.

It's no big deal if you don't mind the check engine light comming on again. You can quickly check and make sure your down stream 02 sensor on bank #2 (driver side) wires aren't damaged in any way but more likely than not the cat isn't doing it's job anymore. If you have to pass emisions tests in your city that can be a problem. It shouldn't affect driveability unless the cat starts getting blocked up.

aftermarket pipes even catted ones will set this code. as far as emissions testing is concerned you will be fine. the OBD2 software is far more sensitive than what is required during emissions testing.

the only problem inspection wise is that with a code even if you just clear it you will fail. so what you need too do to get rid of the check engine light is get either a programmer and shut off the rear o2 sensor/monitors or get a MIL eliminator kit. these plug into the the monitor/sensors and will confuse the PCM into thinking the cats are working the same as the stock ones.
