Whats a good code reader and weres the best place to buy it? (post web site if you dont mind)

What is your price range? I would say a handheld engine programmer if you can afford it but it does a whole lot more than just read codes...

I want the best bang for the buck. I need somthing that I can scan for codes to try to pin point problems.

You can get an Actron scanner off of ebay that works for OBDII for about $130. Or you could get a program that allows you to datalog like AutoTap for $300 if I remember correctly.

yeh the actron is a good one. But you can buy a programmer and make your car faster and have a scanner too.

You can also go to harbor freight tools and pick one up for $40 or $50 bucks. Just go to harborfreighttools.com.

It is just a basic code reader.

Autozone reads them for free. That's the best bang for your buck. Or you can buy the $50 code reader and do it yourself. Or you can get a handheld programmer for $350-$400 and have a whole lot more.
