I've been reading all of these threads saying the code P1151 is a leak or something in Bank 2...but for some reason the code slip I got from the shop is saying S2 Bank 1. My cars already up on the jack stands and I'm trying to fix the problem but I don't wanna replace the wrong O2 sensor. Also I got the code P1780 because the TPS is out of range. I gotta fix this stuff today. I can't take the way its driving anymore.

so how did you figure p1151?

what was the code the shop gave you?

Yeah the codes the shop pulled were P1151 and P1780. I'm more concerned about the P1151 code, which the code sheet says S2 Bank 1 leak.

Anyone know which sensor it is? I just took out the front drivers side sensor and its completely black. Is this the sensor that tripped the computer?

Yeah I have the plug in ones. The shop thinks the codes were pulled because I have an O/R pipe but thats impossible considering my car was doing this exact same thing when it was stock and had only mufflers on it. I would get the surging idle where it would drop down to about 200 RPM's and then go back to normal and then dip down again and so on. Under light acceleration it would buck and especially under light deceleration. The problem would go away and then come back. But now the problem will go away for like a day instead of a few months like before. My gas mileage is suffering miserably and I fret driving because of how rough it drives. I need to fix this problem today if possible

Have the wires checked and the O2 sensors check

The wires look fine. How can you tell if the O2 sensor is bad?

might not be a bad o2 sensor. if it's reading lean the computer will richen it up (poor gas mileage) and that's why it's black.

does the car misfire? that would make the o2's run lean on that bank or you might have an exhaust leak on that side




P1780 Transmission Control Switch circuit is out of Self-Test Range.

i'll see if i can find more info on this code..

Yeah the throttle position sensor is out of range, not transmission. My exhaust doesn't sound like their is a leak. But the front drivers side sensor was completely black and the passenger side was a gray color. The code did say a leak but I'm not seeing anything. If it was a vaccum leak then wouldn't that throw a code?

you sure it's the tps? p1780 says the trans?

if you have a multimeter or a voltmeter i can tell you how to check the tps



a vacuum leak will throw a code if it's bad enough to change a/f ratio, but if it's a vacuum leak it's usually on both banks, not just on one.

hopefully someone elso knows or has had this before so maybe they'll chime in
only thing i can tell you is to check all the vacuum lines. have you ever heard an exhaust leak? you might not even know you have one

You're right its the trans I'm sorry. How should I go about fixing this problem? As far as the O2 sensors...both codes are being tripped at the same time. Would the trans control have anything to do with the shift kit? I don't see how considering its been doing this since stock.

Sensor 2 bank 1 would be the back sensor on the drivers side. But if you have an o/r midpipe and no back sensor then maybe the mil eliminators aren't working anymore?

wait, wtf? so you have two codes dealing with the o2's?



as for the trans, again wtf? so you had a trans code and you then installed a shift kit?

No I have one code dealing with the O2's and one code dealing with the trans control. I just recently had the codes pulled because I was sick of this problem coming and going. It's gotten worse lately but it has been doing this since the car was bone stock.

turn off the overdrive next time you drive it and see if it still does it


if the torque converter clutch is engaging at the wrong times it'll cause the car to buck/jerk, the o/d turns off the tcc
