Coil H location?

So my car FINALLY threw a code: P0358 Ignition Coil Primary circuit malfunction - Coil H.

So which coil is coil H on a 1999 Mustang GT? :shrug:

Would it be Coil H = Cyl #8 = Driver's side closest to firewall?
 
The last digit of the DTC code also calls out the cylinder number (#8). And yes #8 is the driver's side closest to the firewall.

Check the coil for excessive heat. If there is evidence of overheating, find the sources of excessive dwell right away. Do not continue to drive a COP car if the COP is showing signs of overheating. An engine fire is a real possibility.

P0351 Through P0360 - Ignition Coil A through J Primary/ Secondary Circuit Malfunction

  • Open or short in Ignition START/RUN circuit
  • Open coil driver circuit in harness
  • Coil driver circuit shorted to ground
  • Damaged coil
  • Damaged PCM
  • Coil driver circuit shorted to PWR
 
thanks! I went outside and checked the coil. i first checked the electrical connection which was good but in doing so i noticed that the COP was moving a little (side to side) which i thought was suspect. when i went to remove the COP, it came out with ease. it was almost too easy. somehow i think it losened itself. when I pulled it the original motorcraft boot looked good as new. i sprayed some scilicone spray on it and back it went. i made sure to press down firmly and tighten the bolt really good. i had the battery disconnected this whole time and hooked that back up. starting the car up the light was off and the car sounded much better! i took it for a spin and it was MUCH happier. although i still have a SLIGHT hesitation issue off the line. i must have exacerbated the issue when i was cleaning under the hood. i will check the others on that same side for any other loose ones. (i took the other 1-4 out last weekend). If this has been the problem i have been having for the past few years i will be very angry. :mad:
