What do you guys think of replacing the factory coil on plug wires with aftermarket units. The first ones I saw were granatelli (? quality) and were almost $500.00 for the set but they claim on a N/A set-up you pick up 15hp (I am skeptical of those numbers though). But now, I have seen MSD and Accel are making the same coil on plug replacements. The MSD set is like $389.00 and the Accel units are $27.00 each (you need 8) so that makes ~$200.00. I wonder what kind of gains you could expect horsepower wise? I bet throttle response would be improved? Anyone have any experience with this type of product???

funny you bring this up....there is a HUGE debate going on over on modularfords.com right now about this very subject. If you want, take a look there, in the Terminator forums. It's between GMS and WeaponX....

It may say 15 horsepower but what mods are needed before you see that? On a stock car I don't think it would pick up that much. Not worth it.

unless your having problems wth all 8 COP's or are making over 600 hp ther is NO need to change from the OEM ones.

also what you read in magazines is @99.5% bull****

Yeah I can see granatelli saying that COP's have nothing to do with spark, just like he said a PHB doesn't place an axle

Well, to rplace just the wires from the coil is fairly cheap ~$100.00. But, I was thinking about doing the coils and plugs. The accel coil on plugs are $27.00 each

I tried to order the Accel coils. First the parts bin let me order them and then said they didnt carry them anymore, Then summit had me wait 7 or 8 weeks until i said enough is enough and just canceled my order. If you order them make sure they actually have them in stock or your gonna be waiting for a while...
