I have a K&N cold air intake. I took off the filter for cleaning. While the engine was idling I put my hand close the the intake, of course the car idled down. I did not feel any air being pulled through it. So my question is are you suppose to while at idle? I noticed my air filter was not as dirty this time around and I been having some hesitation problems. Today I noticed while idling she started to hesitate. I know I have a small evap leak p0442. Changed gas cap code came back on. So now I have  know idea where to start. I can't afford to put her in the shop at the moment. Any takers? Does the intake have a separate fuse some where? Could the MAF be dirty? I am at a loss. Go easy on me guys, I am female ya know.:hail2:

Glad you are willing to learn about cars :) .

Anyway, I think your spark plugs might need to be changed. If the car is "bouncing" or "missing" at idle, the plugs might be fouled. If the car is idling high, you may have a vacuum leak. I would definitely fix that evap code and inspect the spark plugs.

Spark plugs were changed out 7 mo ago, not missing. Not idling high, sometimes she idles low. My problem is I don't have the money to put her in the shop. I am mechanically inclined. I just don't know where to start. I'm at a loss with the evap system.

Thanks for the advice.

7 months is a while for plugs. Wouldn't hurt to pull them real quick and take a look. You can also try cleaning the IAC. Sometimes they get dirty and cause crazy idle problems.

i had the same prob with my evap leak, it turned out to be the rubber seal around the filler neck where it goes into the gas tank. costs $16 from ford and took about an hour to change it. u can use a light and get under the car and look at it real good to see if u see any damage to it. not sure about ur other problem.
