I just bought a cold air intake (i think its a mac) from a swap meet at fun ford weekend. When I try installing it there are a few problems. First, the upper tube hits the shock tower, there is room for it, but it hits. Secondly, its too long! With the MAF and both tubes on, it extends like 2'' past the throttle body. The guy said 88-93 mustang 5.0 What gives?? The fenderwell part fits in the factory inner fender hole no problem. Do I have a CAI from the wrong model car?

EDIT: I think this is the one
But that one is for the 86-87 non-mass air cars. Im guessing this is the same one I have. Time to modify I guess?

My BBk CAI hits the shock tower as well, I would think that you are going to have to modify the CAI becuase it sounds like you have the wrong model. If nothing else sell it and get the one you need.

You probably got the one for SD cars which didnt have the mass air sensor. You could either cut the pipes down or sell it and get the right one.

Or you can do the less-common SD conversion.

I agree - if your pipe doesnt have 45 connectors, it's for a non-MAF ride.

Good luck.

Personally if you've got the stock air box just throw in a K&N filter and use the stocker. Those CAI's arent all they're cracked up to be.

Are you unbolting the mass air meter or are you trying to leave it bolted in the same spot?
