On a cold start, my car idles like it should. It hangs around 1100-1200 rpm until it kicks down to about 750 or so just like it should. On a warm startup however, the car will start up fine, and then start surging a second or 2 later. It will jump up and down from about 1300-500 rpm a couple of times before it stalls out on me. Therefore, I need to sit there with my foot on the gas holding it at about 1000 rpm for almost a minute before it will idle back down properly.
In fact, it is not even always on a warm startup. It can be down to 100 degrees, but still give me the same problem. It seems as if only the initial startup of the day is trouble free.
The tps is around .98, the IAC/EGR and all those other sensors are clean, all vacuum hoses are connected, and so on. I cranked the butterfly screw in a bit more, but it didn't have an effect except making the idle hang a bit more when coming to a stop.
Any suggestions for me? Except for that initial surging on the startup, it runs great. Like I said, after about a minute it idles fine and runs great while driving through town.
Thanks for any help,
Chris
