Come in and give me some spring break ideas...

mexico--scary. corrupt, corrupt, corrupt police/military. as soon as they see your US plates, they'll stop you for some bogus reason just scare you into going to jail. what do they want from you? --> $$$.

went to Xalapa, Veracruz (about a day into mexico) twice! it was one of the best experiences of my life. the band i was in played a jazz festival there, plus dancers went so it was pretty much all one big party. what freaked me out were the soldiers in the malls with shotguns and automatic weapons. wtf, it's a mall? this was back in 99 before all this terrorist brewha.

honestly, i'd stay in the states. go to so cal or florida.

I went to South Padre on my high school spring break and it sucked b/c we were underage. We had to find someone to buy for us then we would predrink in our condo before we went out to a club. by the time we got to the club and waited in line to get in, we got pretty sober so we would have to go back and drink more. So if I were you I would DEFINATELY think about going to cancun/nice place in Mexico. In south padre they had soooooo many undercover cops. Talk about Mexican cops being corrupt. One of the days we took a bus to Mexico to drink and we were all underage on the bus and everyone was ripped, not to mention the capacity was like 50 on the bus and there had to be like 80 people on there. The bus got pulled over and the bus driver told us all to shut up and try to sit down. then he went to the back of the bus and pulled out a wad of cash from the safe and gave it to the cops and we were on our way. Not saying Mexican cops arent corrupt but i would say those Texas cops are up there with them.

Paul, of course you dont drive in Mexico, that's asking for trouble. You fly to a resort area, like Cancun. Then they protect you, because they NEED you and your cash there.

But if that's not your speed, maybe you could pick some other 3rd world country for a drinking vacation. Say for example, Canada. :D

Seriously though, us Canadians have really became a big bunch of the 94/95 section in the past month....maybe cause it's realllllly winterish up here so we can't spend our days driving

Go shovel some snow you freak! :D

Nate ..... I'd go on a cruise if I were you. You'll forget all about MI.

hehe GRG, canadIa is too far up there for me.

it's funny that you mention South Padre Island--nacho and i live about an hour and a half. it's our local "vacation" spot. in the last few years it's gone from just the normal beach to us to a freakin Spring Break bordello. personally, i think it sucks. it was cool when it wasn't all mainstream, now it's waay too ridiculously expensive and gets packed like a can of sardines.

Totally agreed! I've been to Mexico 4 times & I can vouch for that. NEVER DRIVE IN MEXICO!

Don't think for a second that they "protect" you in cancun. I have NUMEROUS stories of my friends getting "arrested" in Cancun for nothing. Hell one of them got arrested for sitting on the beach talking to a girl... the policia claimed they were naked and screwing on the beach and they were going to have to come up with a load of cash to get off. I know this as I was in a "hut" behind him with her friend. :) Luckily the girl I was with spoke fluent spanish as her mom was from Spain and her dad was from mexico and she talked with the cops and they let my buddy and her friend go.

Canada is fun Nate. I go to Niagra Falls about every other year during the winter "off" season. I'm sure the rates would be higher around spring break time, but typically I can find places right on the hill and near the casino for like $100 for the room, and breakfast and dinner were included. I splurged one year and got the "jacuzi" suit and it was only like $130 for the same deal! Its cold as hell, but fun none the less. I went there for New Years a few years ago and it was a blast!

Thanks for all the ideas/tips guys, i think im leaning more towards a cruise. I've been wanting to go on one of those for a really long time.

Anyone have any experience with cruises? Good ships or companies to go with?

I went on a 3 day cruise to the bahamas on Royal Carribean and it was fun, but I was ready to leave after 3 days. I know I would have enjoyed it much more if we would have been with friends, but it was just my wife and I and we were pretty bored after 3 days. With a group of friends it would have been a much more pleasurable trip. I must have gained like 10lbs on that trip though, they feed you SO much and its SO good too. If you plan to drink, its wise to sneak your own stuff onto the ship as its CRAZY expensive on the boat. All the food and soda and such are free, but you have to pay for the alcohol when you leave the boat.

I went to Acapulco last year on Spring Break. Unreal time. You have to travel in groups though and don't get ridiculously drunk late night cause the cab drivers and police are super sketchy and corrupt.

We were going to go to cancun but the travel agent said these days its 65-75 percent dudes. She said acapulco is cheaper and is pretty much 50/50. Which I would agree with. 80-85 and sunny EVERY day.

I got so loaded one night I puked all over the bathroom at a club and they threw me out... in my drunken haze I walked back to the resort at 3 AM and it took me so long to get there my buddies ended up back the same time I did around 4:30. It was about a 2 mile walk.

If you are going to Mexico, see the real thing and drive through Hermosillo and Guaymas. You haven't lived untill you've done that and fought off the window washers. Then check out the fishing villages near San Carlos. The worst places in Mexico will be those tourist traps. And I don't get why people go to Mexico to party when you can do it in the states

As for spring break . . . snowboarding all the way!
