Coming over to the "Dark Side" LOL

Hello fellers, I'm new here and this is my first post.

I have decided to get an 09 GT after I sell my chevy truck. Time to get out of the truck scene and back into the car scene. I don't have to many plans for heavily moding the stang, but do have some plans. I wanted to get some opinions first.

Bassani X-pipe
Flowmaster A/T axle back
Short throw shifter (? brand)
Lowering Springs (? brand)
Hand held programmer (? brand)

The rest of the mods will be cosmetic.

I was going to get a Pontiac G8 GXP or GT, but changed my mind after I drove the Mustang. The G8 ride quality doesn't compare, lol.

Handheld programmer; I think 95% of the people on this board will tell you to go with a Bremspeed or Bamachips tune/intake combo. They are considered one of the best mods (bang for buck) and are raved about. (plus they remove that annoying throttle lag on the manual transmission)

As far as the exhaust; I've actually heard some people say the flowmasters are restrictive. There are many more options out there now. Since it's "been awhile" since you've been driving the sports car, there's more than flowmaster. SLP loudmouths are my favorite for the car. Not raspy or poppy, no drone at highway speeds; but a very intimidating sound.

I've been searching youtube for the sound I liked and that's the combo I came up with. As far as the shifter, I was thinking the FRPP. I had a PRO 5.0 in my firebird, but didn't like it. Just wondering what you guys liked. "Brespeed or Bamachips tune/intake combo" I forgot to mention a CAI, lol. I'll look into those. I just don't want to get too carried away with the mods. I did on my truck and now I'm going to loose a lot of money selling it. I was thinking about the "sport line" springs from Ebaich (sp).

Eibach makes good springs. Get the pro-kit for a modest drop, and if you wanna be crazy like me you could go for the sportlines.

Welcome, I think you might try an H with the flowmasters. Many agree that chambered mufflers sound better with H's rather than X's. The performance difference is barely noticeable. As far as the springs, I can recommend the ford K springs to you. They don't 'slam' the car down low but offer a good stance without sacrificing too much ride quality. If you're looking for lower, try the eibach sportlines. Struts and shocks though will probably be needed if you go that low though.

Flowmaster 3 chamber will be just a touch louder than your stock.

H pipe is nessesary because of the firing order of V8s an X pip does the same thing but gives you a 10 HP increase because of the design.

Ummm... No its not. Go to the track and run it hard. $50 says you miss third gear on at least 2 runs.

Bassani X-pipe - I prefer the H-Pipe. Bassani is just an overpriced brand IMO. Check out Pypes.
Flowmaster A/T axle back - I prefer the Steeda mufflers.
Short throw shifter (? brand) - MGW!!!!!! All the way
Lowering Springs (? brand) - Steeda!!!
Hand held programmer (? brand) - If I could do it over again, I'd have gotten an SCT XCal3.

Stock shifter still and bangin' gears Not to say I dont want an MGW though...

Get the JLT CAI. Don't waste your $$$ on the more expensive brands and DEFINITELY dont go with the "no tune needed" kits.

We did some testing on different intakes the shop had in house and out of all of the major brands, the JLT made the most power on my car. I believe the 2nd was Steeda but the JLT made about 4 more WHP than it did.

MMmmmk .... I'd say I do alright, considering I cut 1.9 almost 1.8 60's on the stock pirrelli's.

+1. The FRPP shifter is almost as sloppy as the stock one. SCT tuner is very user friendly. I would also recommend under drive pulleys at least, even go as far as CMCV delete plates. FRPP handling pack is a must!!!

Shorth Throw: MGW or Hurst (depends on if you want the vintage look)
Springs: I have Roush and love it, but BMR, Eibach, or Steeda
Prgrammer: SCT Handheld Tuner with tunes from Brenspeed would be my suggestion. brenspeed.com

do the mgw shifters work on the v6 models??? ive been looking for 1 for mine and it is seriously a pain trying to find the better products for v6 models. price doesnt matter any tips will help.
