Common problems with a 99+ GT???? Please Help.

Had this car since new . Only problems were IAC, power window (brackets and switches) , headlight's plastic lenses fading and piston slap on cold mornings (and that goes away on warm-up , as others have said) I put in a new battery recenetly, but the old one was still good. A very reliable car, IMHO

i have had my 99 gt for almost a year now, jsut turned 51,000 miles and the only problem so far was the IAC. i got a new one from NAPA for 52 bucks and put it on myself in 10 min. i also had to grease up my rack bushing the other day making an annoying squeak noise. other than that i say go for it, you will love every second of the stang!

on the head tick, you guys say passenger side head, is it a liud tick or a slight tick? nad what does it mean when they tick?
What problem exactly did you have with the IAC valve. How did you know
it was a problem. I have a 2000 and it seems alot of 99-2000 have that
problem. Is there something I should be looking for?

the IAC valve goes bad and the car idles high, or not at all. It is a common ford problem. I still haven't had it thank god!!

In all honesty the 99-04 mustang gt is am awesome vehicle. I have a 99 gt with a cobra motor and a surprising 291k on it. The car runs like a beast but there are many many many minor problems. These minor problems are easy fixes, however there's always something that needs fixed or updated. But it's worth the money spent!
