who is running a comp cams dual pattern cam?? im looking at going with the xe266hr-12 but i dont know. its got a .544/.555 lift. would this be ok for the street?? how would my gas mileage and driveability be? any info would be appreciated. thanks
When looking at the cam specs, you should be looking at the duration and lobe seperation as the main things that affect driveability. The total lift has little effect on how the car idles/drives. I went to crane's website and looked at the specs on the cam it looks like it would be just fine in a daily driver. You'll probably have a little lope at idle but should drive pretty decent even at low rpm's.
What are the specs on that cam again? Not just the lift, the duration at .050 and the advertised duration. Looks like you might have a pretty stout combo there. It might favor the upper rpm's though, so it might not be the greatest on the street. I have seen some people drive cars on the street with huge cams, just not favorable for daily driving.
Oh that's not bad at all. That is the same duration on the 270 that I am installing soon. I don't have that much lift though, so I assumed the duration was going to be more. I say that will definitely be alright for on the street. Looks like you will make some decent power with those mods. Have fun with it.
