whats going on?i own 90 5.0 gt and i m looking into buying the comp cams k kit from summit (pt # cca-k31-226-3) the cam specs are 230/230 @ .050 and the lift is .512/.512
i was wondering if this cam setup will fit my stock heads. the kit comes with timing chain, lifters and springs to accomodate the cam

Couple things, that is a flat tappet cam, if you have a roller motor (which came stock in your 90 gt) this is not what you want. The timing chain is not a roller, and I am not sure those springs will fit without machining your guid boss.

It is too much cam for a dead stock engine.

To be honest if you have a dead stock healthy 5.0 HO, the cam is not where you should be looking for more power, cylnder head, intakes, exaust, etc is what will help you. There are pleanty of guys running mid 12's on stock cams. But if you really want a diffrent cam, I might go with a XE264HR. You can't run the springs comp cams wants you too, so I might try running the trick flow valve spring upgrade with a couple extra shims and a reduced installed height. Crower and ford racing has some good single spring's that fit the boss you can look into

The 302 is not totally stock. I bought the car from a friend and he claims when the engine was replaced a crate motor was put in. He tells me it's a ford racing version (whatever that is). Other than that, I already have the Edelbrock performer upper and lower intake manifold, a cold air intake, full exhaust, and .373 gears in the rear. I will be looking at doing head work next summer. But as of now, I was looking at putting this camshaft into my car. Now knowing any of this, does that help you diagnose my theory? lol.

The timing chain came with the Comp K Kit, along with the springs and anything else I may need. The Chain says FS Magnum Roller Set on the packaging. And the srpings state that they are a 1.437 Outer W/Dampner. Does this change anything.

For the springs:
Seat Load: 115lbs@1700
Open: 284lbs@1200
Spring rate: 339lbs/in
Coil Bind: 1.125

Sorry for asking so much, I'm just a little confused and maybe a little too excited to do something to my car haha. Thanks for all the help.
