Hi everbody,
I have 65 fastback, A code engine
I would like to change my stock camshaft with Comp Cams.

I already replaced some engine parts and details are below:
1) Holley 600 CFM Square Bore 4-Barel Carburetor.
2) MSD Ready to Run Pro-Billet Distributor
3) MSD Blaster 2 Ignition Coils
4) MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Spark Plug Wire Sets
5) Weiand Stealth Dual Plane Aluminum Intake Manifold
6) Tri-Y Headers (not installed yet)
7) 2 1/2 pipe (not installed yet)
8) Flowmaster 40 series delta flow mufflers (not installed yet)

I downloaded CamQuest6 software from offical COMP Cams website.
According to this software:
COMP Cams K31-238-3 is great fit (detail info: COMP Cams K31-238-3 - COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Cam and Lifter Kits )

COMP Cams K31-242-3 is Good Fit ( detail info: COMP Cams K31-242-3 - COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Cam and Lifter Kits )

What i want to do?
1) More power
2) More torque
3) More loudy sound and idle sound like pata pata
and i dont want to change my stock head, rocker arms and valve covers!!!

Which camshaft is OK for me? Or do you suggest any other Comp Cam cam shaft?

Regards

Depending what youve got for cylinder heads, Ill assume stock 289, I would go with the smaller cam. The heads will be the weak link. If you can/want, pick up some better heads, or even just get yours ported. Other than the presumably stock heads, your setup sounds pretty good.

I agree. To get the most gain, and the least potential for damage of valve train parts, use the smaller of the two cams.

If you can find a cam card for the cam(s) you are looking for, that will help you in your decision.

Have you ever had the heads off the car? Have the heads recently been modified for unleaded fuel? An adjustable valve train isn't that hard to do. It does require some attention to detail, but lots and lots of folks get them accomplished every day.
I respect your want to keep the potential for damage down. ALso, be aware of the rear end gear requirements for the cam as well

Also, you should know that comp cams extreme series paper work (usually) reccomends AGAINST stock valve train components. Try and get the paper work for what ever cam (s) you are looking at. I understand that it isn't as easy in Turkey as it is in Iowa to go to the parts store and get what you need off the shelf.

I ran a similar grind from Edelbrock when I had my stock heads and was pleased. It will not give you much lope at idle but will run well.

I have the Second cam on your list now with Edelbrock RPM heads and really like it. It does have the idle sound you want, and pulls hard to 6K where I have the limiter set. I have not dynoed it yet. I agree that you need heads or head work to make the package work with the bigger cam.
