Basically, I have put a lot of sound system into a car with a newish 63 amp alt. The base notes make the lights dim - I know, its an old story.

I am looking for a complete 3G upgrade kit including the alt, brackets, wiring, instructions - whatever is needed for a 68 w/ a 302. I have seen what I think are 2G 1 wire kits, but that does not sound like the best solution due to low RPM charging issues.

Anyone? Bueller?

Not that I know of, but here is a site that has a lot of the accessories in kit form. From one source, you can get the alt, pulley of your choice, interface plugs and power cables with fuses, terminals, lugs, ect.

Thanks, Gents. I keep seeing comments about not being able to use the stock charge/discharge gauge (mine is a '68) without some kind of electrical wizardry. Do you know what that entails?

I bought the 95amp 3G kit from PA Performance that uses the stock wiring (including a modified voltage regulator on the firewall that appears stock but is not) in addition to a beefy power cable with fuse. From what they told me, the stock ammeter, useless as it is, will survive if the wiring going to it remains stock. So far that's proven to be true. Here's a very brief write-up on my blog with some pix:

That's the same setup I have, save I scrounged the fusable link/charge lead from the taurus that provided the alternator. I didn't want to look at the fuse.
