well im planning on supercharging my 91 5.0 before the year is out and i went a head and did a compression check on it to see the state of the motor since it has 180k on the complete factory motor from intake to oilpan :flag: .

i got 124psi in every cylinder :nice:

im assuming this is good

the motor doesent have one single leak and doesent consume any fluids, and looks as if it is still new.

any tips before install, i will be putting on a 255lph fuel pump at time of install, along with a afpr and guage.

so, do you guys think ill be ok with puttin a novi 1000 kit on it and bumping the boost up to about 8 or 9?

thanks

stock compression is around 170 i think.

i have 120-125 on all my cylinders too and im rebuilding. 8-9 psi? that is probably too much. i wouldnt run anymore then 5 psi. whatever you do, watch for head gaskets.

basically as long as its within 20% of each other and the engine is not drinkin oil it should be fine. even if you do blow the bottom end, a used 5.0 shortblock is a dime a dozen, could just pick up another for $100-$200

im sure ill probably have a head gasket blow on me at some time, seeing as though the intake has never been off the motor since it was at the ford plant

but the bottom end seems like it should be fine, atleast to me it does, plus if it blows ill just build a 331.

If you can so easily foot the bill for the 331, I would suggest you just go that route in the first place? For me, money is pretty tight, so I would have to scrounge around for the SC, install it myself, and hope for the best. If it blew, I would be looking at riding the bus for a few months...
