Im doing a compression test on my 87 gt, how exactly do i do it? How many times do i crank it? Because i cranked it about 10 times and ended up with 180 psi out of cylinder #1. How exactly do i do it?

Take out all the spark plugs so it's not as hard on the starter to turn the engine. For each cylinder you should only have to have it turn over 2-3 times...Just until the guage keeps saying the same thing I guess.

make sure the throttle body is opened all the way to let air in to be compressed. I dont know the exact number on what the compression numbers should be.

the absolute numbers (if within reason) are not so important as the fact that they should be close in proximity (within 10%). there are enough differences in how people do the tests, it can mess results up.

you can do a wet test after the dry test to check the rings. the larger the delta, the more blowby you got.

good luck.
