Computer identification

I have never seen the catch code displayed on the J3 port, but Ford always has a way of surprising us.

Here are a couple of sites that list catch codes.

Hope it can answer your questions.

Usually it falls off. It's just a sticker. If I remember right, I think it was over the J3 port. On our EEC-IVs there is a sticker covering the J3 port stating that if you remove that sticker, it voids the warranty. I was thinking it had the catch number on it as well. Or maybe it was a sticker just stuck to the side of the casing somewhere.

Thanks i got the site you gave me for reference and i think it might be it. The guy i got it from said it was an A9L. So i need to talk to him about it. Thanks
Don't jump the gun just yet. Like I said, I'm not totally sure that "serial number" on the computer is specific to a certain computer. Maybe someone else who has more knowledge with this can chime in.

Sorry, I did not realize that you couldn't see the catch code.

Can you post a pic of where you are getting the numbers you have provided so far?

A pic would simplify things a great deal.

Most diagnostic computers will plug into the OBD port not directly into the computer.

How are the pins configured? A picture of this would help too.

Maybe someone can confirm that that pin pattern is the same as an A9* series?

About the only other advice I can give is to find a way fo reading the stock .bin file. A TwEECer can do this, as well as some other software/hardware combos.
Does anyone near you have this ability?
Some shops that do custom tuning may be able to help?

I would offer my Tweecer for a read, but that would be a long drive for me. :(

Good Luck,
jason

Pin patterns are the same on all EEC-IVs.

I think I have seen some EEC-IVs with different pin layouts than what is on an A9L.

I could be mistaken as this experience comes form touring the local wrecking yards.

I thought the early EEC-IVs were a little different though ?

This is what all EEC-IVs look like. They have all 60 pins.
