Hey guys I just got a computer out of my buddy's totaled 'Fox Body Mustang GT and Im wondering what type it is and if it would be a good swap for mine..I have heard a lot of the benefits of an A9L swap and I want to know if this is a simalar or basicly identical computer program for fuel injection..The actual label up top says " EECIV SFI-MA2 8LD"
And then there is a sticker on the side that says:
"Part # 658821
Serial # 270542 OFF-ROAD
'88 Ford Mustang
302 Supercharged
Manual 5-Speed"
So is this a good computer to swap to from mine and if so, do i need to cut out the wiring harness it was plugged into?

Thanks alot..
Kris

Kris, FWIW all 88 stangs, except for Cali versions, were SD from the factory (A different computer).

Was his car MAF?

If you post this on the 5.0 Tech side, someone will probably run the numbers for you.

Good luck.

SD = Speed density (no mass air meter). This is older tech than MAF (though I LOVE SD).

So his 88 (unless it was a cali car) should have started out as a speed density car, and would have a different computer. A lot of the SD guy convert to mass air when they start modding (SD is not real friendly to lopey cams, etc).

The guys on the fox side have posted long lists of the computer serial numbers and what they correlate to, and I thought they might do it again (or have more info, since I have never seen a puter with that kind of detailed info written on it. Since it says Off road, it sounds aftermarket. ).
