Do we have any audio gurus in here? I am interested in upgrading my computer speakers. I was wonderin if you all knew any great brands or what to buy. Also if I buy new speakers would I have to upgrade my sound card. I am lookin to spend around $140max. Thanks in Advance.

I bought a set of Logitechs with a subwoofer for $60 at Best Buy back in November. It is really amazing how good they sound and how hard the sub kicks for only 60 bucks.

i've got an old set of altec lansing speakers for my computer i will sell you. Its 2 speakers and a sub. It sounds good, nothing thats gonna rattle the walls. I'd go to best buy and get a set, they sell good comp. speakers. You can listen to them in the store too.

Did you want a 5.1 or 2.1 or 7.1? I have some altec lansings that I paid 50bux for back about 2-3 years ago. They are 5.1 and can get sort of loud.

2.1 these look okay $96.00

You should just look around for reviews

You can follow the link below and check out the the over 114 reviews availible, Also you will notice the perfect 5 star rating. These things will last you years to come. You can get good speakers for less, but these are 2nd to none for the money, BTW i order from newegg all the time so its a safe site to order from, there shipping is quick too

I bought a logitech set that has 5 speakers plus a subwoofer off of newegg.com for $60 new, I saw this same set in circuit city the other day for $130, go to www.newegg.com they have awesome deals on anything dealing with computers.

The Creative Labs Audigy line of sound cards is pretty awesome. You can get an Audigy2 ZS for $75.99 shipped from New Egg

And for speakers, I love the Cambridge Soundworks speakers. I have the "SoundWorks" speakers on the computer in the office and the MicroWorks (actually bigger and louder ) at home. Since I don't game alot, surround sound on a computer doesn't do much for me.

For example I just found the audigy2 ZS for $51. All of the websites have reviews as well.

My altec lansing's rattle the walls!!!!

Seriously, the most important thing to have is a good audio 5.1 surround sound card, and a decent set of speakers. The JBL's and harmon kardons are good.

I have altec lansings that came with my computer surround sound with sub. They sound great, get loud, and rattle the walls. I live in half a double and i have to keep the bass turned all the way down or the neighbor compalins lol even if i just put it half way up. Shes not as bitchie since her husband died but i still keep it down. I was watching Backdraft on my pc one day and she said she could hear everything I was like oops sorry lol the explosions rattled the house.
