I was wondering if anyone knows if the 05' auto will bolt up to a mach1/navigator 4.6 DOHC engine? My biggest problem will be to figure out how
to get the CPU to run it. Any thoughts would be helpful .
Thanks:shrug:

Well, the Mach1 motor is a 4.6 and the Navigatior is a 5.4 so, I dont know which one you are going for. I do know that the only auto certified for the 4.6 dohc are the mach/aviator automatics, not the new french one, but it may still work. However, if you are going for a build up I would suggest either the 03 cobra motor or go for the aluminum block 98 cobra motor.

If you're really serious, get a crate cammer motor or something along those lines. if you're going for any less than that, you're wasting your time/money. you'd lose less money to trade your car in on a GT.

exactly what i was thinking, 5.0-liter Cammer crate engine :nice:

Thanks for the replies I'm leaning towards the 03 cobra engine with a mach1 automatic behind it.I can get the engine and trans for about $6500.Still lots of things to get like 8.8" rear end the right flywheel.I think it will cost about $11000 just in parts.I only paid $16000 for my used 05' V6. So I would still come in under $30,000 which is how much a new 06' GT is and have 650HP for less money. Just thinking it's winter you know in the midwest.

After spending all of that money you really won't have much more power than a normal '05+ GT. The cobra engine is better than the ones in our GTs, but they get most of their power from the S/C. Then again it would be a good starting point to build the car up if you have the money. It just seems like a waste of money since it would have been cheaper to just buy a '03/'04 Cobra.

Have you ever worked on an engine, or car? I'm not trying to sound like a smartass, but homie, there's so much stuff you have to switch around. Practically, you'd only keep the suspension and chasis. Everything else you'd have to mess with. IMO, it ain't worth it. Just trade in that 6 for a GT. I haven't looked recently, but I'm sure that you'd be ale to find one, used or new, in the mid to low 20s. And just go from there.

If you bought it for 16K, why not just buy the Supercharger that Vortech has put out for the V6? I know, I know, it would still be a crappy little tiny V6, but why not just beef up the rear a little, throw in an SC, and have the baddest 6 on the block? For under 25K total $'s invested, you could add the SC, T-LOK, gears, girdle, SCT XCAL2, LT headers, high flow cats, dual exhaust, control arms, sway bars, and whatever else you deemed necessary. Hell, you could even add a Zex kit and keep it around 25K total, if not $1k under that. Will you be at 650? No.

But there is a V6 out there putting down 253 RWHP and 384RWTQ with a 100 shot of nitrous, 4.10s, T-Lok, CAI, and a tune. Oh, and he runs the 1/4 in 13.41 @ 103MPH, too. That's about a stock GTs 1/4 mile time. Add duals, LT headers, high flow cats, and a SC and you would have one bad ass car for under 25K.

Like Enrad said, getting that V6 frame to produce 650HP is doable, but at what cost? If you work with the car instead of against it, you might be surprised at the results.

All right, let the V6 bashing begin....

Youre kidding right? The cobra motor not having much more power than an 05 GT. Yeah ok. What does an 05 dyno at 260-270whp maybe, an 04 Cobra is 370whp. Thats 100whp difference, thats big.

But I do agree with you it would be better just to by an 04 Cobra.
