Well, I've got a friend whose in a bind. He's got a 99 Cobra and tried to install longtubes himself, but didn't quite succeed. He got the car back together and is going to pay to have them done.

I'm very mechanically inclined, I've done tons of longtubes on 5.0's, transmission jobs, and am just finishing a 351W swap into my 95 GT which I assembled myself. But I've always been scared to death of working on modular motors, especially the 4.6L DOHC V8.

I've got a garage, engine lift, air compressor, etc etc. The thing is time, which I'm limited on. I could set an entire day aside for just his car, but would that be enough? I did the homework and found excellent writeups on removing the K member (which I've done before) and installing the tubes. Is this a day project or a week project? I can't have my garage tied up for more than a day. He's got all the parts necessary, should I offer to knock them out for him for a nice steak dinner?

Well... I was around during the install of some LTs on a 2v and they did it without removing the cross member. It was certainly a PITA, especially the passenger since it had to be lifted more with some pry bar to get it through. Lift and equipment + know how... no more than 6 hrs with some help.

I did it in two days taking my time just using write ups online. In addition to the floor jack under the oil pan I used an engine lift to support the engine which worked great. Deffinetly drop the K-member, its not that hard, just time consuming.
