What do YOU want to do?
buy a 03/04 cobra and be done with it
yea right, can't afford that. but seriously, i dunno what i want to do yet. i do think i am going to hit a few nice used car dealerships and look for some 99-04s to drive. id like to get some fresh seat time in one and see what i think.
^ SO true. I have twice as much in other areas other than the engine on mine. About 2k+ in body and paint/details.
It adds up fast that's for sure.
How much can you afford? If the Cobra is out of your price range, how about a Mach 1? A step up from the GT, without having to pony up the Cobra cash.
My God at the bad information in here....
The ONLY thing I agree with is the fact that you can't get your money back out of a car with H/C/I. But when did we start modding our cars to make money on the resale?
How much power do you want? There is nothing at all wrong with your car and it will be ALOT...wait let me say that again... ALOT cheaper to mod than any 4.6L. Especially the 4v 4.6L which I would hope you would go for. And your ONLY option for making it fast would be mainly boost. You can run them fast with nitrous but most don't.
Tell me your goal performance wise and I can give you step by step the cheapest way to get there given you can turn a wrench.
my 98 with 4.10's exhaust and a few other little goodies got 350 miles to a tank
holy crap.
Serious man it was crazy, that car just kept going and going, think of the energizer bunny commercial.
I always wanted a 96-98DOHC .
I always wanted a 96-98DOHC BUT IIRC the internals cant handle boost like the ones that come factory with boost.
Found it. Watch the tack needle. 459rwhp without a power adder. He also has nitros. Both videos All motor.

strongly considering getting a 99-04 car or a 96-98 cobra. the cobras seem to be harder to find, especially low priced and low miled. 260hp vs 305hp. i know which one i want but all this is just a possibility.
give me some input, especially those who have either. my main concern of getting either of these is the cost of maintenance and parts. in my mind, these cars are harder and more expensive to fix but that be a myth?
99-04s seem to be getting more reasonable. i have seen several priced fairly. the latest i spotted today 2.5hrs away from where i live : 03 red GT 5 speed, 41,000 miles for $11k
At least you only have 1 car to buy stuff for... It sucks buying stuff for my 68 and my 95 lol
ive pro'd and con'd it over and over. but buying a car with less than 50k thats been taken care of would last me a long time without having to do major things minus routine maintenance. it will be a weekend car .
