I just completed refurbishing my 65 fastback's full console (no a/c) and am reinstalling it and have now realized I didn't take any measurements before removing it. I've tried to find the original screw holes beneath to carpet with an ice pic, but so far, no luck. The console is presently sitting in place on the trans tunnel, but there's a small amount of carpet visible in front on the shifter boot. I don't recall seeing that carpet before removing the console. It doesn't appear that I can move the console backwards without pushing the front of it down and wedging it underneath the metal dashboard, possibly causing a squeak or rattle. The top front section of the console it just behind the lowest part of the metal dashboard. Does anyone have any suggestions or better still any measurements of exactly where the console should be positioned?

See if you can push a peice of stiff wire through the screw holes from underneath.

I think my original console had three screws on each side. One about 4 inches back from the shifter, next about 8" from there and a third about 12 more inches back. I'd post a pic, but I'm at work.
