i bought tranny mounts motor mounts and upper and lower control arms for my 89 5.0 lx. I already put on tranny today and motors don't look too hard but those control arms look quite complicated. has anyone done this and do you have any advice on how to do it. for example when i did tranny mounts i need a jack under tranny to lift it up.

just unbolt the control arm and let the spring come out. then when you're putting the new one in, bolt the arm to the torque box first, then set up the spring on the control arm, and jack up the control arm till it meets up with the rear and bolt it in. Good luck

I wouldn't advise just unbolting a loaded controll arm. Jack up the car, put jackstands under the rear subframes and then let the rear axel hang. Unbolt the quads, shocks, and remove the swaybar. Use the jack and put it on the far end of one side and jack it as far as you and then the spring on the other side should just fall out. Do the same to the oppisite side. Then just unbolt the controll arms one side at a time. You can do two at a time but then the axel tends to shift around. Hand tight the new controll arms in and then do the same to the other side, install reverse of removal, your set.

Here's a tip, if it looks too hard, put on a blindfold or turn out the lights out to make it go easier. I did my HPM's which are more complicated at night durring a power outage, I had a candle, but it didn't help much.

Ummmm.... sure it was a control arm you were handling there in the dark!
