would it be a waste to purchase aftermarket control arms for my 90 lx if all im going to do with it is cruise and shows?

If your plans are to just cruise and show, yes its a waste. If you want better traction and launching you will want them.

I don't think it would be a waste if you were entering in car shows because the aftermarket uppers and lowers look better then factory control arms. Plus you would be able to get rid of the quad shocks which gives you more room for wider tires.
