conv top motors are friggin expensive

so tonight i finally had enough of this damned rattle in my back seat and find out its my damn top motor. they are $300, anyone replaced/rebuilt one for way cheaper?

$300, **** i might just yank out the whole damn top!!

Seems to me that the motors have not changed a whole lot from even the first stangs. I might grab a spare from a J/Y, ebay etc or just remove yours for a rebuild at a local electrical shop (the Ma and Pa type of place). You can use the top manually in the meantime..........

I thought that you refill them for cheap? or is that not the problem?
