Will 5L hatch or sedan springs fit in my 85 GT vert? I've seen different parts numbers on springs for the convertable but I'm not sure why they would be different. I'd like to take the springs out of my 86 GT hatch and put them in the vert but I'm not sure if I should. Thanks for your help.
Physically they will fit just fine. You will have no problems with the install.
However, having said that, your ride in convertible will be significantly different. THe spring rates on the two sets are different for the 5.0 Verts v other 5.0s. If you dont mind the harsher ride go for it. I put 4 cyl springs in my 86 vert for about a week - hated the sloshy ride and but my vert springs back in.
Its not the harsher ride. Its the fact that the rear of a vert requires a heavy rate spring its more of a saggin issue than anything. So to answer you? buy yourself a set that is made for a convertible. I have been thru this myself. There is a difference. If there wasnt there woldnt be different kits available. and over time youll see the difference.
