Well, I was on a trip for the past week. When I got to my Mustang at the Phoenix airport, someone was kind enough to have cut through my brand new top and taken my stereo and radar detector. Needless to say, I am extremely pissed off. My insurance company has been great so far. But it is the pain in the a$$ factor... :bang:

Does anyone know if there is a aftermarket convertible hardtop kit??? Thanks...

Sorry to hear about that man. Yeah that's one of the downsides to having a vert, I looked for one a year ago and found a place that charged over 4K to custom one and I can't remember the name. The 95 Cobra's had them as an option and it is hard as hell to get someone to part with one.

Sorry to hear about that man. Well at least your insurance company is being aight with it. Yeah 94SC, I have only seen a couple of those detachable tops. That's a pretty good combo if you ask me. That's like having the best of both worlds.

I thought only the Cobra R's had them as an option? Didn't know the regular Cobra's could get one. What about from a dealership? Just a thought.

Whenever I park my car, I always remove my faceplate, and anything else that is likely to be stolen. I have caught 2 people trying to break into my car so far.

I just put limo (2.5%) tint all the way around my car. So now they would have a hell of a time seeing inside my car. Kind of a deterance I guess. Also nice in the Tucson heat. Glad I got my a/c fixed recently!

All of the 95 Cobra R's were coupes, so no convertible hard top option was available. I think there was only about 300 black convertible/hardtop Cobra's made. They came with a cool stand for the top too. I think they only made that limited amount because it was too dangerous at high speeds.

In 94-95, there were 4000 cobra's made each year. In 94, there were 3000 coupes, and 1000 verts. All of the verts were black. Same for the 95's.

I learned about that option 4 years ago.....I immediately ran to my car with some insane thought that maybe I had missed something (like a child that still checks behind the TV 4 months after Easter looking for an egg).....but to no avail, I am but a humble owner of a GT Coupe. I'd kill for that.

Wouldn't that be cool........go out side and check your coupe and discover "holy crap, I got a vert!" .....I believe there is/was a place that can make it or has them on e-bay. may want to check it out. Good luck!

499 hard top Cobras - you will see one on ebay on occasion for sale:

Can't remember the co., but someone was manufacturing one I saw a year or so ago..I thought it was MPS, but it's not on their site.

I bid one one 3 years ago (top only)...should have bid a little higher, it only went for $800 and I'm kicking myself now. I've seen them go for as much as 2k!!

I have a Mustang Catalog book that said Ford discontinued of the removeable hard top option due to quality issues with the vendor that made them. Too bad. I have thought that it would not be too difficult to make a coupe into a removeable hard top if one was so determined to have one. If the mini-trucks can be made to be convertible why not the SN95 Mustang coupes?

The removable hardtop is still listed in the collision parts catalog, however I doubt it’s still available. FYI: list price is $3,373.30.

Ouch...I think I will buy a beater car to drive to PHX and park there while I am away at work...Unfortunately, rice might be in my future for this...Something cheap, economical, and something I won't give a crap about... :D

Acctually in 94 most of the verts, if not all were red pace car replicas

Where there any yellow cobra's made back then?? because I saw a factory removable hard top,.. on what I could swear was a GT at the time.

The car was sitting on a Ford lot, and they had the roof pop'd but not removed. just sticking up at the windshield frame.

i didnt even know they made such a thing until that day. but I could swear it was a yellow GT, and not a cobra...
