Convertible soundproofing

I don't intend to even install a stereo in mine. Combine the thin sheet of vinyl we have for a roof with the open echo chamber behind the back seat, then add some long tube headers and free-flowing mufflers and you wont be able to hear much anyhow. That is with the top UP, drop it down and travel at speed and you'll be shopping for earplugs :D

I guess you could always "feel" your music, but put in some stiff springs and shocks with some 4 point belts and you'll be feeling plenty already.

Seriously though, I did carpet underlayment on mine, Check it out here:

How much did that WonderMat run you ? And seriously...did it make a difference ? I don't have the long tube headers...and the free flowing mufflers...my growl isn't quite as loud as yours hopefully :-D

The wondermat was cheap, I got mine from Summit and it came in 4ftX6ft sheets. I don't remember the exact price but it was about the same price as a square foot or two of Dynamat (what a colossal waste of money that stuff is...LOL).

I'll let you know how well the sound is deadened when I get her fired up :D

With the top down I doubt that you will even notice a difference, soundproofed or not.

Believe me, the amount of sound coming through the floorboards PALES in comparison to the wind noise at speed. If you have a radio the only time you will hear it is at stoplights. But that's part of the convertible experience.

I have some soundproofing underlaymant that looks like shinny bubble-wrap, and 4" think insulation in the trunk facing the back of the seat. All of that does absolutly NO good! I had a radio in the car, took it out becuase with my exhaust, rearend gears, and top up or down you couldn't here it. Just enjoy the sound of the motor and the wind blowin, it's all good!

PS: if you are hard of hearing like me you can't here a word your wife is saying to you in the seat beside you! :D

Not hard of hearing at all...lol but that doesn't stop me from wishing sometimes....

Since this is my first mustang convertible, just wanted to do it if it made a difference. Especially since I have all the carpet etc out of it right now.
