Hey every body I just bought this 88 LX drop top and it's in great Condition for it's age, but seeing as it's the first drop top I've owned, I didnt have a whole lot of idea on the mechanics of it all. I figured you just pressed the button and the motor did the rest! Well on this car the motor seems to work just fine and everything except I can t seem the get the couple more inches I need to get the top loew enough to put the boot on! I've tried kinda pushing down to see if the down would go down any further and it wouldnt! Am I missing something? It didnt appear that anything I could see was physically stopping the top..but just kinda dumbfounded at the moment.

Do you have the correct boot? The tops in the 91-93 verts retracted lower in the well than the earlier models. Maybe you have a top boot for a 91-93?

sound dumb,

but did you push the release latches handles back in. If you don't push the latch handles back in after you release the top from the windshield header they will hit the top of the rear seat stoping it from lowering the last few inches.

May not be your problem but sometimes its the little things we overlook.

Nah, I dont think it's the boot. I bought the car from the first owner and she said she got the boot with the car when she bought it from the dealership originally. I asked her already what she thought the problem might be but she said she never had any problems with it. Her being 73 and a sweet old woman but very out of it, I dont think she maybe knew what I was trying to explain to her though. I did make sure the latches were tucked back into place too, BUT I was thinking it probably is some bonehead simple thing Im not doing...but it sure is kicking my ass so far!
