Converting a SBF to EDIS??

I did a search on this and couldn't find much of anything about it, so I thought I would make a thread about it...

I'm likely changing my Mustang to Megasquirt over the winter and I was STRONGLY considering changing the engine to EDIS, which would allow me to eliminate the distributor (which wouldn't be too difficult) which would clean up the engine bay a bit, as well it would allow adjustment of the timing on each individual cylinder which would be great from a tuning stand point.

I was basicly thinking of taking a distributor and cutting it off just above the base, so it would 90% eliminate the distributor, while still having the oil pump driven off the camshaft. I was planning on taking an EDIS set up off a crown vic or something (any 4.6 I can find in the junkyard really) and setting it up on my engine, and having the Megasquirt control it.

Anyway, it would be awesome if I could get some input from you guys on this...tell me if I'm missing something here or if any of you have any experience doing this or have seen it done.

5.0 Explorers are EDIS engines. You will problably find most of the hardware like the distributor base on an Explorer engine.

Talk to SorsCode. He's doing a project with DIS on a 94 with a 408 stroker. There's quite a bit of wiring involved from what I gathered by his posts, but it's doable. I bet he could steer you in the right direction.
