you could just be like me.....I love my V6, and badly wanted a V8 but just couldn't part with the 6. Just put a supercharger on there, and all of the other accessories with it, and you'll be at or above stock V8's. It probably costs more to go the route I did, but I couldn't find a GT or Cobra convertible that was like mine.

Well if you want to know first hand, i can tell you. i just finished my swap a few months ago, like you i couldnt part with my 99 v6 let alone afford a new gt payment or the insurance, so swaped it (sounds easy) took me a few months, lot hard work and time under the hood...but I DISAGREE with all these guys sayin "just buy a v8" because i spent a little over $2,000 on everything that includes the motor, t-45 trans (mine was auto) d/s, exhuast, computer, harness's brake booster, hydroboost lines and rack, pedals, and eveyrthing else that MM&FF left out (they really made the swap seem simple) but anyway my point is i have the only swaped 99+ around this area and people give me alot of credit for pullin it off, so make your own decision man, i'll help ya out a smuch as i can!

whats up man, well i totaly understand where you are coming from screw the peaple saying sell it and buy a v8 they dont understand that we are not made of money and still have to pay off our cars alright now that i have that out of the way.

you should defentaly get a donor car thats what i am going to do becoause like you i already have a1. full suspention set up ( on the back the front i want a qa1 set up so that takes care of that. 2. i have a full 2 1/2 inch duals already and i would be buying a x pipe so still nothing extra. 3. i am building a rear end so once agian i wouldnt need thers. 4. the tranny i have a tremik tko sitting in my garage. so theres all the big stuff. far as the computer and wiring harness it not a big deal ok . now you may ask why the donor car you can find one that has been hit from behind blah blah blah so that you know you get every little peice that you need and trust me there will be alot of little stuff in there. after wards part out the donar car ( if posible ) and make some money back. O yea your fuel pump should work i dont know about those 99+ so yea somebody key in one that but i dout it and even if you do still if your going to supercharge it then you will need a bigger one. so as you peaple can see he shouldnt buy a v8 mustang in this senerio .

now if you where going to just drop in a 4.6 or 5.0 with no future modifications then yes trade it in i hope this helped a little bit and sorry its so long i was just trying to make sure we where on the same level.

I'm thinking about procharging my car, either in the near or not so near future. So I was wondering how much everything cost you, what you got for all that (including power figures), and if you would recommend it.

Well, the procharger unit itself (11# kit with intercooler) run me a little under 3000. It's not a requirement, but I got true duals (side exhaust), 42# injectors, a new mass air meter and a dynotune. The duals cost anywhere from 50-600 depending on where you go and what you want done. Since I had the side exhaust, it was more expensive. The injectors were 300, MAF was around 300 and the chip and dynotune were also around 300. I think I dyno'ed at 268 rwhp and 365 ft/lbs torque (not SAE corrected on a mustang dynamometer in columbus, OH). The guy who did my tune said my corrected numbers would be around 290 rwhp.

I saved myself some money by doing the install myself.....just took about 8 hours for the initial install. I didn't get on it too much when it was first installed until I got a dynotune. If you do get a blower, don't go through the trouble of getting a fordchip mailorder. I did it and the car never ran right.

I'd highly recommend a blower if you don't wanna get a v8, but it is time consuming. Just make sure your engine is sound enough to take the extra strain. The only time I ever put it up against a v8 stang was my brother in his 92 GT and I was beating him until I blew the intake tube off going into 2nd gear.....since I corrected the fittings, I've never had a problem
