Currently have stock manifolds into single exhaust on a 66 289 Fastback. Looking to convert to dual with stock style components, but not GT style through the valance. Who sells a decent kit with everything needed? And is there anything needed to convert that the kits don't provide? Also, resonators or not whats the benefit?

Mustangs Unlimited and National parts depot both have a duel exhaust complete kit or you can buy it in pieces

I've seen a couple of the kits online and am more or less looking for reccomendations from amyone with experience with any of them. Good or bad. Not going to leave the car in the hands of a shop.

I did the full kit from National Parts Depot on a 66 GT Coupe and a Fast back .The only thing i didn't like was the trumpets ,they chirped like a Canary .I removed them and the chirping quit .If you are not wanting the GT tips you could just use turn downs.

Why not? Unless you have a lift, welder and bender, do you? A good shop may be needed to tweak the kit you buy. I do not know if things get bent in shipping, but exhaust is rarely just a bolt on deal.

I understand that "bolt on" rarely is. I have the tools and resources to deal with any tweaking needed. I don't put the car in the hands of shop monkeys unless absolutely necessary. Even the tire shop only gets to handle the wheels

So what is the difference exhaust manifold wise between "standard" and "hipo" exhaust?

The Hi-Po exhaust manifolds are larger and take a different H-Pipe.
