Just about 40 minutes ago now I got "I dont know what you have in this thing but it got to 60 in like 3 seconds."

I corrected him with "It couldnt be any faster than 5"

What have you guys and gals received from ticketing officers over the years, in Mustangs or others?

BTW, this was my first ticket for speeding since getting the car. The other time I got caught doing 75 during a quick lane change but I got it taken down to a fix it ticket when I told the officer that I must have left my DL at home. I remember my DL# though.

Once I got: why you going so fast? And he repeated that question 2 or 3 times after I got pulled over for 100 in a 55. Not a good ticket . . .

In my first car, a 1980 Datsun 510 4door hatchback. I think there was more bondo and rust on it than steel.

The cop stopped me and told me "son, I don't think this car is safe to travel at those speeds" ... I was doing 80.

They made that car in a 4-door hatchback? Wow... I never knew that. My first car was a flourescent orange 1972 Datsun 510 4-door coupe. It wasn't the best car in the world but it was fairly reliable and you could see it several miles away!!!

Ummmm... Not proud of it at all.... but..

"Young Lady, you are obviously under the influence tonight, as there are 4 lanes here and you were using every one of them."

First and ONLY DUI.. Never even had a speeding ticket on the streets of CA before that...

Ha I haven't been driving too long, but I already have my share of tickets, (including doing doughnuts on a golf course) but I got pulled over for speeding coming off the freeway and the cop came up to my window and asked, "You ever been pulled over by CHP before?" and I said, "No, officer, why?" and he informed me that my car was on all their "watch lists" for speeding...I didn't even know they had them...oops.

when i was 18, i had lots of disposable income. and i liked fireworks.....which are illegal in my city and the good ones are illegal in nebraska. same with iowa. so i drove to missouri to buy them. on the way back, i had about $1500 worth of fireworks (by the way, you get more when you buy in bulk from the firework stands) packed behind the seat of an 87 s-10 reg. cab. i was in a hurry to get home, since it is about 80 miles each way. the speedo on the s-10 was like 85. it was burried, and everyone else was doing the speed limit (65) so i was in the fast lane the entire time, and if someone was in the way, i tailgated them till they moved. did that for about 45 minutes. then all of a sudden i see a state trooper and i slam the brakes (which were about 1000 miles past needing to be replaced...aka metal to metal) the trooper slams on his brakes, and whips it around....i slowed down and merged into traffic like everything was good. he came up with his lights and sirens and everyone slowed WAY down. he pulled me over and the first thing out of his mouth was "do you know you are going to loose you license for this?" i said no, and he pulls me out of the car. he asked where i was coming from, i said "down the road." he told me that he had several cell phone reports about a white s-10 exceeding 90 mph ever since i crossed the iowa border. he asked me if i had fireworks, and i said yeah. then he asked how much...i said over $1000 worth. he then went to the truck and asks my buddy to get out. he tipped the seat forward and about 4 bags fall out.....because it was soo packed. he shook his head and came back to the squad car where i was sitting. he kindly told me that fireworks are a class c felony in iowa. scared the ***** out of me. then he said he was a kid too and liked fireworks and didnt want to mess with them right now. he said that i could go with them, but if i get stopped again, he never saw them... so he gave me the speeding ticket for 92 in a 65, thank god it was under 30 over or i would have lost my license. the fine for the speeding was $111. i gladly mailed it in the next day. $111 for 27 over?!?! thats cheap!! never had a traffic violation since.

About a year ago I got a speeding ticket here in SoCal for doing 54 in a 45 (industrial area) around 10pm coming home from the gym. The officer was a rookie and I couldn't believe he actually wrote me up for going +9 over the limit in good conditions. The fine + traffic school fee was $179! Maybe I should move to Iowa!

Oh yeah, he took his sweet time writing me up so I took up his time being thorough and going over the ticket to make sure everything was right. He said "Just sign. You're not admitting guilt." I said, "I want to make sure you got everything right seeing as your new on the job and everything". He didn't think that was very funny.

ha! i don't have any REAL good ones, but here's a couple.

1) got caught doing a 3-lane lane change at once with no signal pulling well over 100 passing slow traffic in the #1 lane. young bike cop nailed me. when we pulled over, he was very cool and said he was just gonna let me off with a speeding ticket of 85 in a 65, which is just at the 20 mph difference that starts to REALLY get you in trouble. funny part was that he saw the cheap $40 radar detector that i had just bought earlier that day. he asked, "did it work for you?" i threw it out the car, disgusted, and asked "does that answer your question. cheap wal-mart piece of crap." he doubled over laughing, but then got all serious and said he'd fine me for littering if i didn't go get it.

2) i was doing 45 in a 35 zone. the road is kinda twisty, so the section i was actually speeding in was posted as a 25mph zone (one of those yellow signs that has the arrow and recommends the speed you should be at). of course, i just see corners like that as a challenge. anyway, i was on my way home from a nice dinner with the gf and had had a few drinks with dinner. not enough that i was what i would call drunk, but enough that i wasn't exactly thinking of what was coming out of my mouth before i said it (can you see where this is going?). the cop was real nice, and made mention that he knew my car could probably handle the corner just fine at that speed with the work i had done to it. without hesitating, i blurted out "you bet your ass it can!" with a wicked little grin.

Me and a buddy got pulled over for doing 71 in a 70 (yes you read that right) on Easter sunday in his retired State Patrol 5.0 Mustang. The cop said he paced us doing 71 MPH in a 70 MPH zone and proceeded to write him a ticket.

My buddy says "you are joking, right?" and this jerk off says "It is called a SPEED LIMIT not a SPEED ROUGH IDEA"

We beat that one in court and got his badge suspended for harrassing us.

We would have just left it at beating it in court, but the cop literally crumpled up my friends registration and threw it in his face.

Cops don't bother me in the least, but that guy had it coming.

My ex boss got the best ever. He got clocked 114 in a 55. The cop came up to the car and asked "Wht do you think you are a race car driver?", my boss pulled out his IMSA license and said "Well, sort of". The cop actually got a laugh out of it and wrote him up for 75+ (no arrest).

I got a ticket in March - I think because the nice officer wanted to look at my "purple" car longer...or maybe it was 60 in a 35, whatever. It was an industrial area, on a straight, flat road, where there weren't any intersections or stoplights that I couldn't see for a quarter mile - I still speed through there

The cop told me that he'd pulled over a '05 Rousch Mustang that was being test-driven (I know that the dealer I got my v6 from had 3 on the lot on Friday...). He claims that he clocked the guy at 189 and chased him for several miles before catching him. I was shocked that the guy stopped at all, and more shocked when I asked if the guy got to see the back seat of the police car - he let him go!!! If that's true, I feel sorry for the poor fool who bought that car.

The best part - my ticket was $141. I called around to a couple of lawyers - the first wanted $500, the second wanted $400 both quoted court costs of $300, which seemed reasonable, because I've always heard that doubling your fine is a good estimate. I went with the $400 guy - and Saturday in the mail, I got a $150 refund.

They can get you out of the ticket. I didn't want to bother with a lawyer when I got a ticket for "running" a stop light (I got caught behind some slow ass truck and couldn't see the light ). I just payed the court costs and went to the defensive driving class.

but you end up paying more in lawyer fees over the ticket cost, correct?
