So my mustang is long overdue for a coolant flush, but I have never done one before. Does anyone know of a link to a good write up? Any tips, precautions? Thanks!!

You see thats the beauty of cooling system like ours, After you fill your system as much as it takes, run the car until reach norm temp. then shut it off. System would then burp itself( you can see this as coolant will be sucked from reservor). then fill the system, repeat the process, until system stop sucking from the reservor.

takes few cycle. It took me 5 cycle for system to stop sucking(Burp the air out of system) when I changed mine last week

Yeppers... but all that dude on the link did was fill it up to the cap on the radiator and let it burp it out while running the system low.

Not a chance.
Dealer will have some lot jockey drain it, close the drain fill it and be done with it.
You think the dealer is going to take the time to get all the air pockets out?
Doubtful.

Raise the front end, get one of those bypass thermostats (I think the Ford Racing one is that type) which allow even cooling and trapped air to get through and do it the correct way.
Take your time and it will be fine.

if your gonna do it yourself, be sure to remove thermostat out BEFORE you gonna flush the system from upper radiater hose with garden hose. it won't be pretty if you forget

Don't ask how I know......

So you did that too
I think it's like leaving the gasket on the car from the old oil filter.
These things are kind of a right of passage for mechanics.
We all do one or the other when we are learning!

Also a Haynes manual ($15 at just about any auto parts store) has useful information.
